As Calgary’s Fire Chief, I am pleased to announce that the 26th Annual North American Vehicle Rescue Challenge & Learning Symposium (NAVRC 2010) will be co-located with the 5th Annual Canadian Industrial Emergency Conference and Expo (CIE 2010). These events will be held at the Coast Plaza Hotel and Conference Centre in Calgary from September 19 to 25, 2010.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate each and every one of you for having the desire to take part in this unique rescue challenge, as well for participating in the workshops, conference and tradeshow. This is a landmark event where we will celebrate the Calgary Fire Department’s 125th anniversary as well as uphold our vision of becoming the international fire service leader.
We are planning plenty of breakout sessions, exhibits and workshops. NAVRC 2010 will provide an excellent platform to enhance your vehicle extrication skills through learning and sharing ideas, techniques and skills in one of the fastest changing facets in the fire service today. CIE 2010 will focus on issues pertaining to the industrial emergency responder and their municipal mutual aid partners. I am confident that the conference material, the distinguished list of international and national speakers, the exciting disciplines, and the anticipated large audience will produce a uniquely successful event.
It is the citizens of our communities who are the ultimate benefactors from the training and knowledge of first responders. Attendance at these two events offers you an opportunity to learn and practice so that you are ready when duty calls. I offer the best of luck to the challenge teams and best wishes to all attending this event. You are to be commended for your commitment and dedication to the area of emergency service.
I hope you all have an incredible learning experience at NAVRC 2010 and CIE 2010.
